Margie
McInnes called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Attendees included board members Dean Hansen,
Tom Vickers, Mary Ann Vickers, Mike Brezin, Margie McInnes, Andy Grayson and
Melissa Jacoby. Also in attendance were Adam Grayson and Doug Harrison.
Tom
Vickers introduced Doug Harrison who expressed a willingness to be the BHNA
Treasurer. Doug lives on Marion Avenue,
was a CPA with Price Waterhouse and now has his own web development business. Doug asked a number of questions about board
procedures. Margie explained the board’s
financial records.
The
September 1, 2011 meeting minutes were approved.
COMMITTEE
REPORTS
Membership: Tom Vickers presented the Membership report
which was approved. For 2010/2011 year
there were 357 dues-paying members. Dues
and donations were:

Tom
also reported that he downloaded the property ownership records for Betton
Hills from the Leon County Property Appraiser’s web site and prepared the
mailing list for the fall newsletter.
The list has 941 entries, including some additions such as county and
city commissioners.
Treasurer: Margie McInnes presented the Treasurer’s
reports for September 8 and October 6.

treasurer’s reports were approved.
CONA
Melissa
Jacoby reported that she has been unable to contact CONA and had received no
emails or notifications of meetings and the website has not been updated. She will try again to contact CONA.
Website: Margie McInnes reviewed the BHNA
website and agrees that it needs updating and revisions. She will contact Mary Kay Falconer and J.T.
Ehrhardt to determine what it will take to update the website.
Neighborhood Preservation: A complaint has been filed with Code
Enforcement about the condition of the property at 2537 Marston. Complaint number is 2CE-11/4843.
Parks: Dean Hansen reported that he has the
key for the kiosk in McCord Park.
Members should give Dean items to be posted in the kiosk. Dean also reported on the ongoing issue of
mowing and mulch removal in McCord Park.
New mulch is to be delivered this week.
Welcoming
Committee: Dean will
advise if the board should it be necessary to purchase items for the welcome
packages. Dean will also provide Tom
Vickers with the names of businesses that have donated items so that Tom can
add them to the newsletter mailing list.
Old Business:
Newsletter: Adam Grayson provided the latest
version of the fall newsletter. 975
newsletters will be printed. The board
approved the expenditure of up to $100 for pre-printed envelopes to be included
with the newsletter for encourage payment of dues. If the printing quote exceeds $100, Adam will
contact Margie for approval. The
newsletter will be distributed as quickly as possible to provide notice of the
October 23 Fall Festival.
Fall
Festival: Margie led a
discussion of actions needed for the October 23 Fall Festival. The board authorized $100 for gift
certificates to be awarded as door prizes and $300 for payment to Leon Steel
Drum Band.

board also received thank you notes from Abby Crane and Roberta Fiorito for
$175 scholarships from the Bill Mansfield Fund and from Laura Rogers, chair of
the Leon Project Graduation Association, for the BHNA donation of $100.

next meeting will be November 3. There
being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8:40 p.m.
