Newsletter: Shawn Einarson, who has done a superb job
with the BHNA newsletter, is not going to be able to continue doing it due to
time constraints. Various options were
entertained, including dividing the newsletter duties so that 2-3 people can do
it without it being unduly time consuming; finding another person in our
neighborhood to assume the duties; using Mansfield funds to pay a high school
student to assist with the responsibilities; having it done by the person who
does newsletters for various other neighbors and who made a presentation to our
Board a few months ago. Mike will follow
up with one of his neighbors who had indicated on her membership form that she
would be willing to help with the newsletter to determine if she is still
willing.
Welcoming
Committee: No report.
CONA: No report.
OLD
BUSINESS
Neighbor Helping Neighbor: Eric Thorn wrote an article for one of last
year’s newsletters to see who may want/need assistance after hurricanes, etc.
He will submit it for publication again to keep a current list of neighbors who
want someone to check on them.
NEW
BUSINESS
a. Neighborhood Ponds:
Eric Thorn had sent an email to Board members regarding 3 men he had seen
fishing at some of our neighborhood ponds, and taking out 25-30 fish at a
time. He had called the City Parks Dept.
to see what the city ordinance (#88-0-0167) specifies about fishing there, as
signs are not posted at all the ponds and the signs that are posted do not have
the same information. Eric and Margie
will follow up with the City to have appropriate signs posted at all of our
ponds so that people will not unknowingly fish illegally. If people are fishing illegally, neighbors
can request that they stop fishing, and/or call the non emergency Police phone
number (891-4200) and an officer will come to handle it. Information about the
ordinance-including age of person allowed to fish (children and senior
citizens), number of fish allowed to be caught (5), and size minimum (12”)-will
be put in the next newsletter.
b. Crime Watch: Andy Berenstein will provide monthly crime
reports pertaining to crimes in our neighborhood. A photo of David Barr Gibbs was circulated as
there have been complaints about him repeatedly coming to neighbors and trying
to get money and/or yard work for money.
The BHNA Board will not meet again until September 2. There being no further business, the meeting
was adjourned at 8:20 p.m.(app.)
Respectfully submitted,
Margie McInnes
