Association Minutes
September 3, 2009
President Andy Fink called
the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
Attendees included: Andy Fink, Margie McInnes, Mike Brezin, Tom
Vickers, Andy Grayson, Sue Hansen, Dean Hansen, Mary Kay Falconer, Shawn Einarson,
Tom Schulte, and Melissa Jacoby.
The June 4 minutes were
approved.
Tom Vickers presented the
2008/2009 summary Membership Report that covers the period from September 2008
through August 2009.

Margie
agreed to serve as treasurer for the association. She will meet with Donna and Tom Schulte at
the bank to make sure appropriate signatures are on file.
The
members voted to retain records for a minimum of two years.
Web
Report: Mary Kay will update the email
addresses for board members listed on the BHNA website. Andy will create a BHNA group on Facebook to
facilitate communication and sharing of information of interest to
residents. It will contain a link to
the BHNA website and potentially other sites such as the Red Cross, CONA, or
Talgov.
Newsletter: Shawn is working on the fall newsletter and needs
assistance with content. The newsletter will
be distributed to all Betton Hills residents by October 1. The newsletter will include announcement of
the upcoming annual meeting, highlights of the last year, dues information, the
CONA energy challenge (BHNA currently ranks #2), information about the Edible
Gardening Club and the 2009 Neighborhood of the Year award.
The
Annual Meeting and Ice Cream Social will be held on Sunday, October 18, from
2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Mary Kay will
complete necessary forms to reserve Winthrop Park pavilion. Margie will arrange for the Leon High Steel
Band to perform. Other details will be
discussed at the October 1 board meeting.
Welcoming
Committee: Andy will check sales data
and provide Dean a list of new homeowners.
Dean will provide Shawn a list of donors so that their names may be
included in the upcoming newsletter.
CONA: Melissa gave a report of the August CONA
workshop which again centered on crime prevention and emergency response
activities. Big Bend Community
Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) will be developing a template for
neighborhood emergency plans. When the template is complete, the board will
explore the feasibility of implementing an emergency plan for Betton
Hills. Tom Schulte will obtain
additional crime watch program information to determine whether a neighborhood
crime watch should be reinstated.
Melissa will continue to serve as CONA liaison until a replacement is
identified. CONA will be holding a
delegate meeting in December.
Old
Business: Mike is working on the
Neighborhood of the Year sign. He will
also obtain information about a bat house.
Dean volunteered to clean up the Armistead compost bin. Mary Kay will obtain further information
about an outdoor movie event for the neighborhood, possibly at the Ashford
amphitheater.
New
Business: Andy Grayson is looking for
suggestions for projects for group of Eagle Scouts.
There
being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 8:45.
