We agreed that we would

determined by the Journalism faculty at Leon High.
Mary Kay announced that our
nomination form for Neighborhood of the Year has been submitted.
We next discussed plans for
the “Spring Fling”, our annual Spring social event scheduled for April 27th.
In lieu of the traditional marker sign walk, we will gather at 2 PM and walk to
the new park that links Winthrop and McCord Parks. Between 3 and 5 PM there
will be a number of family activities offered in the pavilion area of Winthrop
Park. Activities will include the Moon Walk, a rock climbing wall, craft activities,
games, and pizza and soft drinks. Tom indicated that he had verbally secured a
permit for the event. Activities are being coordinated by Margie, who passed
around a list of volunteer activities. All board members are urged to
volunteer. A few of the responsibilities
have been assigned as follows: Tom Schulte: pizza (the White Elephant has
agreed to donate 12 of the 24 pizzas) and soft drinks. Donna will prepare a
display of neighborhood activities and volunteer opportunities. Bill Jones will
arrange for music ($25 has been designated for each musician). Mary Kay will be
responsible for the Rock Wall. Elizabeth will organize the craft activities.
Peter will prepare favors for the children. Tom will plan to arrive at 2 PM to
set up the banner and prepare (additional volunteers are encouraged to arrive
early and bring ice and ice chests).
Everyone agreed to solicit door prizes from assigned area merchants.
Mary Kay indicated that the
Council of Neighborhood Associations has asked if BHNA wants to designate a
member to its Board. We agreed to ask Bonnie Gaughan-Bailey.
There being no further business,
the meeting adjourned at 8:20 PM.
(Immediately after the
meeting Tom asked Caroline and Eric Smith if they would be willing to join the
board. They have agreed to do so, and we welcome them as new members both to
the neighborhood and to the BHNA Board.)
Respectfully,
Peter Butzin, Secretary
